Good LSM: Monthly Charity Cocktail

In Be Locally Relevant, Create Community, Drive Traffic, Event, Good-Bad LSM, Support Local Charities

When you can make giving back a part of the daily or monthly routine at your small business, it’s that much easier to be consistent with your philanthropic commitments!

We spotted this idea at Parallel 38, a Mediterranean restaurant and wine destination in Charlottesville, Virginia!

Each month, Parallel 38 selects a charity partner to benefit with the sale of a specialty cocktail. This month, they’re working to support the Urban Agriculture Collective of Charlottesville, a non-profit that uses urban farming as a catalyst for social change in the community. We love this monthly charity cocktail idea because not only is it easy for the restaurant to execute, but the differing charity partners increases the chance that new customers (who support that month’s organization) will come in to check out the restaurant!

We truly believe that small businesses that give back to local organizations or charities in need are more likely to be seen as a “member” of their community or neighborhood as opposed to just another retail shop, restaurant or bar.

Do you think this idea would work for your bar or restaurant? You could take it one step further and host a monthly “launch” party and invite representatives from that month’s charity to participate and/or make a presentation as to how your cocktail dollars will be spent.
